Rajasthan is the driest state of India and home to the infamous Thar Dessert. It is a historically and culturally rich state. Teej is the most popular and widely celebrated festival of Rajasthan. It is celebrated with absolute grandeur, traditional songs & folk dance, fairs, and the worship of Goddess Teej. There is a grand practice in which the golden idol of Goddess Teej is taken across the city with decorated elephants, horses, & camels. Another popular and major festival of Rajasthan is the Kite Festival in Jaipur and Jodhpur. It is celebrated around Makar Sakranti every year with an abundance of tourists from all over the world.
Another great festival is the Jaipur Literature Festival of Rajasthan. It is one of the biggest literary festivals in the whole world. Many events happen during this festival including the showcasing of many reputed and amateur writers. The elephant fiar of Jaipur is also a very famous celebration on the day of Holi. Elephants are decorated with colorful jhools & heavy jewelry and presented for races, shows, & competitions. Female elephants are even made to wear anklets. Other festivals of Rajasthan include Brij Holi, Pushkar Camel Fair, Mewar Festival, Kumbalgarh festival, Bundi festival, and many more.
