Daman and Diu Holiday 2024

Daman and Diu is a small yet diverse union territory in Western India. It comprises two regions Daman and Diu which are separated by the Gulf of Khambhat. These regions are famous for their beaches and diverse festivals. The main festival here is the Nariyal Poornima held in daman every year. This festival witnesses various water sports at the creek between Moti and Nani Daman. The west zone cultural center also puts up a cultural show on this day every August. This festival marks the end of the monsoon season and the beginning of the fishing season in this coastal area. Fishing is the main form of livelihood of the people of Daman and Diu.
Another major festival is Gangaji Fair in the Somnath Mahadev temple every year in March. Legends believe that the current shivling in this temple miraculously appeared here in the 19th century on the request of a priest of this temple. This day is marked every year with Gangaji Fair. Other festivals celebrated in this region are Christmas, Holi, Diwali, and all the other main festivals of India. Daman and Diu has a majority population of Christians, hence all the major biblical festivals are celebrated here.
