The study room is just as important as the living room. If you design the study room according to Vastu rules, it improves children's concentration and stamina, helping them achieve good academic results. Vastu tips help strengthen a child's concentration and endurance so they can sit for long hours without getting tired. Many children begin studying but cannot sustain full concentration. Vastu helps them gain control over their mind. Lack of concentration is a child's main problem, and designing the study room according to Vastu can be the key to solving it.
The north-eastern or western side of the room is considered the ideal place for studying. The eastern side is also good. In earlier times, the western side was viewed as the ideal location for a study room, because it is ruled by Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter. Jupiter provides deep knowledge of a subject, Venus increases interest in learning and effectiveness in a subject, and Mercury provides intelligence and the ability to understand things quickly.
The study table should be 4-5 inches away from the wall. There must be some open space in front of your children.
A rectangular or square study table is preferable. The study table should be neither too big nor too small — it should have a decent, moderate size.
There must be no beam above your child's head while studying. The child should sit facing north or east. The south-west, north, south-east, and north directions are not considered suitable for a study room. The doors of the study room must be on the north, west, east, or north-east side.
Keeping a pyramid near the study table helps balance energy and improve memory. A clock should be placed on the northern wall of the study room. The windows on the east side should be larger than those on the west. Light colours are better for learning — green, pink, sky blue, and cream are ideal for a study room. Avoid using black in the study room.
Books must be kept in a closet on the eastern, western, or northern wall. A table lamp enhances a child's concentration and should be placed on the south-eastern side of the study room. A water pot is auspicious in a study room.
Elders may sit and study in the south-western corner of the room, which is good for reading books or newspapers.
The north-eastern (Eshan) side is suitable for children. Do not keep heavy things on the Eshan side — if weight is placed there, studying will not go smoothly.
The door of the study room should have two shutters. Light plays a very important role in studying. You must take care of the lighting in the study room, as dim light is unfavourable for a child's education and concentration.
