Vastu Bedroom Tips

Vastu Shastra is regarded as a sacred science that provides a stress-free life for people. According to Vastu, each direction possesses its own qualities, which are passed on to the different rooms of a house. It is important to keep the bedrooms harmonious and free of problems, since this is where people spend their time resting from the uncertainties of the world. Bedrooms should therefore be arranged according to Vastu rules.

There may be several bedrooms in a house. It is important to place each bedroom in the correct position, and this should be followed strictly for the bedrooms used by married couples and by children.

• The bedroom for the head of the family should be in the West or South-West part of the house. West-facing windows are good for the master bedroom, and married couples should also live in the South-West bedroom. Married couples should not use a bedroom in the North, East, North-East, or South-East, as this may result in unnecessary quarrels between them.
• Children or young members of the family should not use the South-West corner bedroom. Children should use a bedroom on the West or East side.
• The South-West bedroom must be bigger than the other rooms of the house.
• A television should be avoided in the bedroom. If such electronic items must be kept, they should be placed in the South or South-East corner. The South-West corner should not be left vacant, and a sofa should not be placed in the bedroom.
• The wardrobe should be placed in the North-West or South-West of the room, and the dressing room should be placed in the North, East, or North-East corner of the bedroom. The paint colour should be pink, blue, grey, green, or white.
• If a bathroom or toilet is attached to a bedroom, it should be on the West or North side of the room.
• The door of the bedroom should have a single shutter as far as possible, and it should be on the East, West, or North side. There is no harm in having a small window on the East or North side. Almirahs, showcases, and similar items should be placed against the South or West walls. The door of an attached bathroom must always be kept closed.
• Vastu does not permit a bedroom on the South-Eastern side. It is preferable to place the room on the South-Western, Western, or North-Western side of the house. If there is no other option, place the bed away from the South-Eastern corner. Sleeping in this direction may have an adverse effect on the occupants.
• Sleeping direction is also an important factor in Vastu. Sleeping with the head towards the West brings prosperity and fame. Sleeping with the head towards the East brings family happiness and reduces differences among family members. To become wealthy, one should sleep with the head towards the south and the feet towards the north. Sleeping with the head towards the north brings peaceful sleep but is not considered auspicious, as it reduces energy and lifespan.
