Trees are good friends to us; we cannot live without them. There are various types of trees, and some are used for the beautification of homes, parks, offices, etc. When trees are arranged in a proper way, it is called gardening, and we should garden in a proper manner. According to Vastu Shastra, five basic elements are needed for germinating and developing seeds: soil, sunlight, air, water, and space. The absence of any one element would damage the seed. You should plan your garden with the same attention you give to your home. There are both negative and positive aspects to gardening. Buildings, bricks, and other solid materials are the negative aspects, while soil, trees, and water are the positive ones. The trees in the garden should be evergreen, and you must keep them green and healthy.
The North-Eastern part of the garden should have adequate water sources. You must not build a pond in the middle of a garden — the same logic applies when building a swimming pool. Wrong placement can cause problems.
You should follow simple steps for gardening. Flowering trees can be kept anywhere in the garden, but fruit trees should be kept towards the East. You should avoid the Western side, as this can cause quarrels in your house. If you plant fruit trees towards the East, your house will prosper. Remember that the South-West side should be lower than the North-East side, so that water can flow easily from this direction.
Do not plant a banyan tree in your garden, as it is not good for it. However, you can plant tulsi or bamboo in your garden, as these are auspicious. Tulsi is also very helpful for coughs.
You can select the North-West part of the garden for the children's play area. You should avoid large plants on the North or East side. You can plant a Peepal tree towards the Western side of the house, while Jackfruit trees are suitable for the Southern part.
Some trees, such as banana or coconut trees, help promote relaxation and health, and are suitable for a home. If you have a pond, lotus is a suitable plant. A swimming pool is suitable towards the North or East, and you can also set one up towards the Western side. Do not keep large trees in the middle of the garden.
You should avoid cacti, as they are harmful and inauspicious for your residence, contributing to strained relationships and tension. You should also avoid a fountain if you have a garden in the middle of the house.
For seating, you can plan for it towards the Western or Southern side, facing the Eastern or Northern side. You must keep the garden neat and clean — remove leaves, flowers, and bushes as routine maintenance, and lawns must be cut regularly.
It looks great to have a path to the main gate. You can plant herbal trees beside the path, and you can also plant flowers such as jasmine. A rockery may be built towards the South-Western part of the garden.
