Vastu Water Tank Tips

The water tank is a very crucial part of the house. If it is placed in an improper location, it can be the cause of severe Vastu faults in your home. According to Vastu, water should be available on the north-eastern side of the house. In earlier days, women used to carry water in pots on their heads, and little has changed even today — in many villages, women still carry two pots, one in hand and one on the head, often coming from a long distance. With growing urbanisation and population, people have restricted their outdoor movement and started storing water within their homes instead, collecting it from a tube well, or from municipal or panchayat tap water.

The water tank must be placed on the south-western side of the house. Even the western side of the house's wall is fine for a water tank. Keeping the tank on the south-western side also helps prevent leaks, since a leaking tank may bring ill luck to the house.

Never place a water tank in the north-eastern corner, since this area is considered delicate and cannot bear weight well. Some people load a tank there without realising it and bring disaster upon their own lives.

A water tank on the north-eastern or northern side will cause financial loss to family members. A plastic water tank is not ideal, but if the tank is made of plastic, its colour must be blue or black and nothing else.

If a water tank is placed in the middle of the building, no one will want to live there, as it becomes difficult for family members to stay comfortably.

If your water tank is placed on the south-eastern or north-western side, a small room can be built in the south-western corner of the same veranda. Make sure that this room is built higher than the water tank.

A lighter water tank can reduce tension among family members. The ideal place for digging a sump is the north-eastern side of the house, as this leads to growth in wealth, knowledge, and prosperity. One more thing to remember: when digging the sump, draw an axis from the north-eastern side to the south-western side, and dig the sump either to the left or the right of that axis. A sump placed to the east of the north-east is very good, and one placed to the north of the north-east is also good.
