The main gate of the house plays a significant role. It is the path through which energy continuously flows in and out. The entrance must be maintained with extreme care, and its direction must be appropriate to gain the utmost benefits. The entrance should be set up on an auspicious day after a Vastu puja. The placement of the entrance is very significant. Picture yourself standing in front of your house and dividing the frontage into two equal vertical halves. The main door must be located in the middle. It may be shifted slightly left or right, depending on the direction the door faces.
You can get continuous sunlight throughout the day if you place a window facing north. The south-western side should be avoided, as the sun lingers there in the afternoon.
The northern wall of the plot is the ideal place for the main gate. Placing it on the north-eastern or eastern side is also fine. Always keep the entrance clean. Obstacles must be avoided in front of the entrance. An obstructed main gate is known as a "Veda" and is considered inauspicious for residents. Garbage should not be allowed to collect at the entrance.
A water tank, septic tank, or drain is not allowed beneath the entrance of the house. The building's lift must not face the main gate directly. Good-quality wood is preferable for the main gate, and black should not be used to paint the main gate.
Its door must be stronger, larger, and heavier than the other doors in the house. There should be no abandoned or damaged building facing the main gate.
Decorating your house's main gate with images of Ganesha, Lakshmi, or Kubera, or holy symbols like the Swastika or OM, has a good effect. The entrance gate must be maintained properly so that it does not create a screeching noise.
The house's land must not be located at a T-junction of a road. Shoes should be kept to the side of the door — you should not keep them directly in front of the door. The door must not be slanted or circular in shape. A north-eastern or eastern-facing door is a sign of knowledge and fame. When the door faces the southern side of the house, it is a sign of happiness. If your door faces the northern direction of the house, it brings good fortune to your family. A north-eastern facing door is a sign of a fortunate and wealthy family.
