Vaastu Shastra

Vastu Center Of House Tips

The central part of the building is the place of the Hindu God Brahma, the creator of the world.

Brahmasthan is a distinctive feature of ancient architecture based on Vastu Shastra. Brahmasthan is the central, most auspicious, and influential area of a house. All sides connect with the centre of a house, and it radiates positive energy to all sides. This positive energy is very much needed by the family members of the house. It is also a suitable place for industry or a factory. This place may be distinguished by using a different colour on the ceiling.

If we wish to prosper and live with happiness and harmony, we must keep the Brahmasthan free from obstacles. Construction in the middle of the house obstructs the main energy that keeps the family members lively. In ancient times, people built a courtyard in the middle of the house that was open to the sky, with the rooms located near the courtyard.

We must divide the plot into eight equal parts from the Eastern side to the Western side, and from the Northern side to the Southern side. This divides the plot into sixty-four equal squares. The 4 squares at the middle of the plot form the Brahmasthan.

  • The central part of the building should not be a bedroom, toilet, or kitchen, and this point should be kept open.
  • There should not be any septic tank, well, water-storage tank, boring, etc.
  • It is recommended to keep this part of the house peaceful and silent. This point of the house should be the highest point in the house. Most temples have this point as the tallest section of the building.
  • There should never be a toilet placed in the center of the house, under any condition.
  • A TV, music system, washing machine, or any machine that makes noise should not be placed in the center.
  • One exception is a bell, which may be placed there to be rung when praying to God or to show respect to God.
  • White is the preferred paint colour, though yellow or light green is also acceptable in the center of a house.
  • As this place is known as the Brahmasthan, or the holiest place in the house, you should not keep any garbage, shoes, or clutter here, as this may cause trouble in family life.
  • While constructing the house, keep in mind that no heavy pillar or beam should fall here.
  • Some houses may have a staircase at the center of the house, but this is also not recommended inside a home. This is acceptable if the house is a public place that thousands of visitors come to every day.
  • If the kitchen is placed in the center of a house, this will cause health issues for family members, especially the elders in the family.
  • The best recommendation from Vastu is to keep the place open as part of your living room, identify the central point, and place an idol of the God you devote to. This way, you pay respect to the most powerful place in your home.
