Vaastu Tips for West Facing House

West-facing houses receive strong afternoon sunlight and are ruled by Varuna, the god of water. They can bring prosperity and success, especially in business and creative fields.

Best entrance position

Divide the west wall into nine parts. The third to sixth padas from the south-west, especially Sugreeva and Pushpadanta, are ideal. Avoid the extreme south-west and north-west corners.

Layout tips

  • Master bedroom in the south-west.
  • Kitchen in the south-east or north-west.
  • Living room in the north or north-east.
  • Children's room in the west or north-west.
  • Staircase in the south or west.

Handling the afternoon heat

Use thicker walls, smaller windows, trees and shades on the west side to control the hot afternoon sun, while keeping larger windows in the north and east.

Colours

White, silver, light grey and blue suit the west side. A metal nameplate is a good choice for a west-facing door.

Who benefits

Traditionally, west-facing homes are said to suit people in business, teaching, religious work and creative professions, and those for whom Saturn is favourable.
