Best direction
Place a fountain in the north, east or north-east. The water should flow towards the inside of the house, symbolising wealth coming in, not flowing out.
Where to avoid
- The south-east, south and south-west, where water clashes with fire and earth.
- Bedrooms, where moving water can disturb sleep and relationships.
- Directly in front of the main door, inside the house.
Care
- Keep the water clean and change it regularly.
- Turn the fountain on daily; still, dirty water is linked with stagnation.
- Choose a size that suits the room; a huge fountain in a small room creates imbalance.
Outdoor fountains
In gardens, the north-east is the best place for a fountain or small pond. Keep the water clean and the area lit in the evening.
