Swastik Om and Vaastu Symbols at Home

Sacred symbols are used in Vaastu to invite positive energy and protection. Each has its own meaning and best place.

Swastik

The swastik is a symbol of good fortune and well-being. Draw it with vermilion or turmeric, or place a metal swastik, on both sides of the main door or above it. It can also be used to balance a defective zone.

Om

Om represents the sound of the universe. Placing an Om symbol at the entrance, in the pooja room or in the north-east brings peace and spiritual energy.

Shubh Labh

The words Shubh (auspicious) and Labh (profit) are written on either side of the main door, especially during Diwali, to invite prosperity.

Lakshmi footprints

Small footprints of Goddess Lakshmi pointing inwards at the entrance symbolise wealth entering the home.

Toran

A toran of mango leaves, marigold flowers or auspicious designs hung across the main door welcomes positive energy.

Respect the symbols

Keep these symbols clean and never place them near shoes, dustbins or toilets.
