Choose rooms wisely
- Use the south-west room as the master bedroom for the head of the family.
- Give children the west or north-west room.
- Use a north-east room or corner for prayer or study.
Arrange furniture by direction
- Sleep with your head to the south or east.
- Place heavy wardrobes on the south or west walls.
- Keep the north-east corner of every room light and free.
- Sit facing north or east while working or studying.
Use colours and décor
Removable wallpapers, curtains, cushions and rugs can bring the right colours to each zone: greens and blues in the north and east, earthy tones in the south-west, and warm shades in the south-east.
Simple portable remedies
- A small indoor fountain or bowl of water in the north-east
- A bright lamp in a dark south-east corner
- Bowls of sea salt in corners, changed weekly, to absorb negativity
- A Vaastu pyramid or yantra for a defect you cannot change
Before you rent
If you are still searching, check the entrance direction, the kitchen location and whether the north-east is free of toilets. A few minutes with a compass can save years of discomfort.
