Vaastu Guide

Duplex and Multi Storey House Vaastu

In homes with more than one floor, Vaastu applies to each floor and to how the floors relate to each other.

Height and weight

  • The upper floor should ideally be built over the south and west parts of the ground floor.
  • Keep the north-east lighter, with a lower height or an open terrace.
  • Avoid an upper floor only over the north-east portion.

Staircase

Place the internal staircase in the south, west or south-west, climbing clockwise. Avoid the north-east and the centre.

Rooms by floor

  • The master bedroom of the head of the family is best on the upper floor in the south-west.
  • The kitchen is best on the ground floor in the south-east.
  • The pooja room is best on the ground floor in the north-east.
  • Children's rooms can be on the upper floor in the west or north-west.

Balconies and open spaces

Keep balconies and terraces on the north and east sides of the upper floor.
