Rituparno Ghosh was born on 31st August 1963. He was a prolific filmmaker, actor, writer and lyricist. He is credited to be one of the revivers of the Bengali contemporary films to new heights. He started his career as ad-campaigner with appealing punch lines and one-liners., He made his directorial debut with Hirer Angti(1992). He won two National Awards for his next film Unishe April (1994). He went on to win a series of National award and many accolades for films Bariwali(2000), Asukh(1999), Utsab(2000), Titli(2002), Chokher Bali(2003), Raincoat(2004), Sob Choritro Kalponik(2009), The Last Lear(2007 ), Abohoman(2009), Memories in March(2011), Chitrangada(2012). He acted in the film Arekta Premer Golpo(2010). He died of a heart attack on 30th May 2013.
