Mumtaz is an Indian actress of 60s and 70s who started her career with small roles but slowly rose to the prominence. She was born on 31st July 1947. She is accorded the status of the diva of her times. She began her career as a child artist with Sone Ki Chidiya(1958). She started her career prominently with Gehera Daag, Mujhe Jeene Do. She played lead in films like Do Rasste(1969), Bandhaan(1969), Tangewala, Chor Machayae Shor(1973), Loafer(1973), Jheel Ke Us Paar(1973), Khilona(1970) for which she won Filmfare Best Actress award. She also did stunt films with Dara Singh like Daku Mangaal Singh. She quit the film after starring in Aina(1977) but made her comeback successfully after 13 years with Aandhiyan(1990).
