He did his schooling from N.S.Public School and graduated from Siddhartha College in Arts, Vijaywada. His parents are Raj Gopal and Rajya Lakshmi. He is married to Kalyani Teja and has a son. He debuted from Karthavyam and assisted in some films. He received Nandi Award for Nee Kosam (debut as lead) and Neninthe in 1999 and 2008. Sindhooram won the National Award for best film. He became 50 th celebrity list of Forbes.
