Born as Sital Batabyal, Pradip Kumar was born on 4 th Jan, 1925 in Calcutta. He started his career from Bengali film Dossu Mohan and Burmer Pathey in 1947 and 42 in 1951. Then he came to Mumbai and starred in Anandamath in 1952 and his last film was Daku Haseena as a lead in 1987 and last project as an actor was Badmaash in 1998 as police commissioner. Some of his best works are Taj Mahal, Anarkali, Mahabharat, Passport etc. He was the well known face of both Bengali and Hindi films. He won Kalakar Award in 1999. He died on 27 th Oct, 2001 at the age of 76.
