Thiruvalla city is in the Pathanamthitta district of the state of Kerala in India and is also known as the Land of Non Resident Indians. The city is situated at the basin of the Pamba and Manimala rivers and there are several canal streams here and a few of them are Chanthathodu, Manippuzha and Mullelithodu. Thiruvalla is believed to have existed from 500 BC onwards and the popular historical monuments are the Paliakara Palace and the Nedumpuram Palace. The city is mostly comprised of a mixture of Christian and Hindu population with the important religious shrines being the Malankara Marthoma Syrian Church, the Indian Orthodox Church, the Church of God in India, the India Pentecostal Church of God and Sree Vallabha Temple. Thiruvalla is mostly composed of families who have members working in countries outside India and hence there is almost no economic activity in this region but even then the residents earn a significant amount of revenue.
