Secunderabad city is in the Hyderabad district of the state of Telangana in India and is the twin city of Hyderabad. The city is situated on the Deccan Plateau having rocky and hilly grounds and is divided from Hyderabad by the Hussain Sagar Lake. Secunderabad was formed during the Eleventh Century under the rule of the Kakatiya rulers with the Hussain Sagar Lake, the High Wall, the Clock Tower and the Old Jail Complex being places of historical interest. Hindu and Christian communities mostly inhabit this city now with the Laxminarayana Swami Temple, the Mahakali Temple, the Wesley Church and St Mary’s Church being important religious shrines. The main centres of economy in Secunderabad are Bolarum, Moula Ali, Nacharam, Ghatkesar and Uppal among others and they are mostly dependant on the IT industry. Being a cantonment area, several defence related industries have also been set up in this city under the Secunderabad Cantonment Board.
