Biratnagar city is situated in Province No 1 of the district of Morang in Nepal and is also known as the Industrial Capital of Nepal. The city is surrounded by forested areas and shares its borders with the neighbouring country of India and acts as the gateway to the eastern parts of Nepal while being located near the base of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges. Biratnagar was originally known as Gograha Bazaar and the modern city was formed in 1914 by Colonel Jit Bahadur Khatri. The First Anti Rana Movement also began in this city in 1947.
