Vyjayanthimala was born on 13 August 1936. She is a classic film actress and is a trained dancer in Bharatnatyam. She is also a gifted Carnatic singer and choreographer. She is known as the first female superstar of Indian Cinema. She debuted in Tamil film Vazkhal(1949). She went on to star inJeevitham, Baghdad Thirudan, Sangham, Kanavaney Kankanda Deivam, etc. She debuted in Bollywood with Bahar. She went on to star in superhit films like Nagin, Devdas, New Delhi, Naya Daur, Asha, Madhumati, Paigham, Gunga Jumna, Sangam, Amrapali, Jewel Thief, Hatey Bazarey, Prince. After retiring from film, she continued with dance and choreography.
