Probodh Ch. Dey aka Manna Dey, one of the famous singers of the Golden Era of Indian Film Industry was born on 1 st May, 1919 in Kolkata to Purna Das and Mahamaya Dey. He studied in Scotish Church Collegiate School and then College. His music career started from the inspiration and influence of his uncle Sri Krishna Chandra Dey. He also took musical education from Dabir Khan. Dey started his career in the film Tamanna in 1942. He received Padma Shri and Padma Bhusan in 2005. He married Sulochona Dey and has two children. He died on 24 th Oct, 2013.
