Hemanta Mukherjee is a prolific singer and composer in Bengali and Hindi film industry. His full name is Hemant Kumar Mukherjee and was born on 16th June 1920 in the city of Benaras. In his whole career, he recorded nearly 2000 songs. In 1933, at the age of 13, he first recorded his song for All India Radio. He recorded his first disk with songs, Janite Jodi Go Tumi and Balo Go Balo More. He was a famous exponent of Rabindra Sangeet with self-composed songs like Deep Jwele Jai, Ek Hi Rasta, Harano Sur, etc. He bagged two National awards for Best Male Playback Singer.
