She started her career as child artist alongside her sister Nutan in Hamari Beti(1950). Her first film as adult included Chhabili(1960), Hamari Yaad Aayegi(1961), Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi(1966), Jewel Thief(1967), Jeene Ki Raah(1969), Haathi Mere Saathi(1971),Mere Jeevan Saathi, Do Chor Yaarana,Khuddar, Masoom. Her parallel regional and Bengali films include Deya Neya, Anthony-Firingee(1967)Teen Bhuvaner Parey(1969) andProthom Kadam Phool. Afterward, she returned after a long absence with films like Prem Rog(1982), Saathiya(2002), Khakee(2003). She played the role of a widow in Marathi film Pitruroon.
