Best known from her works in Bengali film industry Sumitra Mukherjee was born on 30 th March, 1949 in Kolkata and was known for her natural screen presence. Her first film is considered as Ajker Nayak in 1972. Her film career consists of more than 500 films to her credit. She won BFJA award for the best supporting actress in Devi Choudhurani in 1975 and Anweshan in 1986. But her best performance according to the audience was in Ogo Bodhu Sundari in 1981. She died in 21 st may, 2003 and her work in Sathi was released in 2010.
