Muzaffar Ali was born on 21 st Oct, 1944 in Lucknow. He studied from La Martiniere College. He married Mira and has a child. He won Padma Shri in 2005 for his contribution in Indian films, fashion and social works. Some of his best films are Jaanisaar, Congregation, Anjuman, Aagaman, Gaman, Umrao Jaan etc. he won the Filmfare for best director in 1982. The film Zooni directed by him was completed in 1988 which never released. He and his wife have a charitable trust called Dwar Pe Rozi which aims to educate primary students and training for women.
