Festivals of Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India. Hence, it has a rich and diverse culture combining multiple ethnicities and origins. Various festivals and fairs are celebrated in this state all throughout the year. The Ganga Dussehra is the most popular of them all. The festival falls in the excruciating summers in the month of June every year. Dedicated to the holy river Ganga, which acts as the lifeline of the inhabitants of this state, the festival is highly awaited. It is celebrated for a span of 10 days and observes the immense participation of people filled with vigor and joy.
As Uttar Pradesh is home to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, Ayodhya Pooja is the most widely celebrated festival. It falls around Dusshera and includes the worship of Lord Rama in the city of Ayodhya. Other major festivals of this state include Buddha Poornima, Makar Skaranti, Holi, Janmashtami, Taj Mahotsav, Durgotsav, etc. People all around this culturally rich state celebrate different kinds of festivals and celebrations.
